• Play H Word Charades: Have your kids choose from a list of H words. Then take turns acting out these words. Here are some helpful H words you can use for charades: hairbrush, hippo, hamburger, hat, helicopter, and heart.

• Read Picture Books that Feature H Words: Reading is one of the most helpful ways to help kids learn H words. By choosing books that feature H words, your kids will get more familiar with identifying the letter and some of its common words. Two of our favorite letter H books are: Harry and the Lady Next Door by Gene Zion and A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle.

• Play ‘What I will Bring’ Game: Sit around in a circle with your kids and start each turn by saying “I’m going on vacation and I want to bring…” Everyone takes their turns repeating all the previous answers before they give there’s. (The trick is naming only things that begin with the letter H.)

• Bean Bag H Word Toss – Before you begin, get a bean bag and a list of H words for kids. To play, toss the bean bag to each other. With each toss you need to name a word that begins with H. The first person to run out of H words looses the game.
